5 ways to get your feet ready for warm weather

Warm weather has finally arrived and that means getting to enjoy sandals and other warm weather footwear. Unfortunately, you may have noticed that your feet aren't exactly ready to be seen in strappy heels and gladiator sandals. Whether it's dry skin or unkempt toenails, you may find yourself sticking to your sneakers and boots. Thankfully, you don't have to. Here are just a five ways to get your feet ready for warm weather.

Use a Pumice Stone to Remove Dry Skin

Dry skin on the heels and ankles can be unsightly. However, it's very easy to remove with a pumice stone. All you need to do is rub the stone back and forth over the dry skin to remove the layers of dead skin. This will leave your feet nice and smooth. You may still find your feet a bit dry though.

    Keep the Skin Moisturized

It's not enough to remove the dry skin from your feet, you also need to moisturize your feet to prevent the dry skin from coming back. Personally, I love thick lotions that absorb into the skin without leaving a greasy feeling. One of my favorite brands is St. Ives Whipped Silk. A nightly application of lotion will help ensure your feet stay soft and moisturized.

    Trim Those Nails

Okay, ladies, admit it. In the winter you may not pay as much attention to your feet as you should. This means your nails may be in need of a trim. Trimming and filing your toenails can help make them look better, but a rub down with olive oil will leave your toenails looking wonderful. Add this to your nightly routine to keep your toenails looking gorgeous.

    Maintain Nail Polish

If you choose to paint your toenails, keep the nail polish looking good. When the polish starts to chip, remove it and repaint your nails. Anytime you remove your polish, you may also want to trim your nails. Trimming the nails while they have polish on them will chip the polish so it's best to do it while your nails are bare.

    Embrace Strappy Footwear

Last, but not least, embrace this year's styles. Gladiator sandals are huge this year. The classic wedge of the 70s is also quite sexy.

Don't let your feet be seen without taking a bit of time to prepare them for warm weather. All of these tips are easy and ensure that your feet will look amazing until the end of summer.
