Let's face it: Trends look great when super skinny models flaunt them on the runway. However, not all trends are meant for the everyday woman who runs errands and drives kids from one activity to another. Well, that doesn't mean one has to stick to the usual and the mundane. If you find yourself stuck in a rut and are looking for a quick update, here are five wearable trends to rock in the coming season.
When it comes to fall's hottest silhouettes, peplums rule. The coveted style is present everywhere - from tops and blouses to even jackets and outerwear. Wearing a peplum blouse with jeans or cropped pants is chic, comfortable and right on trend. If the flouncy shape sounds intimidating, opting one with softer lines adds just the right amount of drama to your outfit.
While not a devout enthusiast of bold printed jeans (that often reminds one of upholstery), I prefer choosing light and neutral patterns help break monotony and to give a new dimension to my look. Choosing a sedate grey and black patterned pant and wearing it with a loose white button-down shirt keeps things balanced, stylish and yet trendy and easy.
Fall's cropped pants are tailored and complement your frame. These versatile and chic pants can be worn with knitted sweaters or tailored blouses for a fashion-forward feel. For that much-needed stylish edge, pair them with loafers or oxfords. While solids are prevalent, a subtle lace-print cropped pant is a definite head-turner.
Good news! A pencil skirt that is a ubiquitous choice and a wardrobe staple for many is one of the coveted styles this season. While the professional few can pair them with tailored blouses for an elegant 9-to-5 look, others can spruce up their casual attire with chunky cardigans or boxy jackets. Complete the look with strappy sandals or pointy pumps.
Bold and vibrant colors are in rage; however, you don't have to steer away from them. Fall's darker and muted palette is friendlier and can be adapted to create looks that are stunning and sexy. And, when it comes to hues, oxblood reigns. Don't let the name throw you in a fit. The color similar to the warm tones of burgundy and maroon can be adapted in jeans (if not leather). Keep it center stage and create a poised look by opting for a simple and classic black turtleneck or a white button down shirt.
