Many people need rewards to help keep them motivated. Unfortunately, many people turn to food as a reward. Not only does this defeat the purpose of doing something healthy, but it can eventually lead to weight gain. If you're tired of running in place, due to poor reward choices, it's time to rethink your system. The following are just five weight loss rewards that aren't edible.
Naps or Sleeping In
Sometimes the day just seems so long and a nap seems so inviting, but many women feel guilty after taking a nap. Instead of feeling guilty for taking a nap or sleeping in, make it part of your reward system. Being able to get some extra rest is a wonderful reward that is actually quite healthy. Many claim that they are even more productive after taking a nap.
At-Home Spa Treatments
Another great reward is at-home spa treatments. If you've stuck to your weight loss plan and have been good all week, why not spend part of your weekend enjoying a hot bubble bath, giving yourself a facial, etc. There are so many ways to pamper yourself at home, thanks to all the wonderful products on the market.
A Day Off
Wouldn't it be nice to just pick up the phone one morning and tell your boss that you're not feeling well while heading out the door for a day of fun? If you've spent the past few months sticking to your plan, and consistently losing weight, play hooky just one day and take a long weekend. If you think you'll feel guilty for calling in, schedule the time off instead.
Time to Yourself
Something that women, especially mothers, never seem to do is take time for themselves. The truth is women need time to just relax and read a good book. If you've been good all day, reward yourself by making time to do something you want. Even if it's just an hour, this is a reward that you will want to, win each day.
Items for Weight Loss or Fitness
Last, but not least, reward yourself with something that is weight loss or fitness related. It might be a new exercise DVD or a new cookbook filled with low-fat recipes. Either way, this is something you can enjoy that won't pack on the pounds. In fact, it will help you take them off.
Instead of heading for ice cream after a good workout at the gym, treat yourself with something that's not edible. Reach for a good book, treat yourself to a hot bubble bath or take a day off. Regardless, you can reward yourself without turning to food.
