With temperatures dipping below 70, cozy fabrics and long pants will be embracing our bodies soon. Fall is about snuggling around an outside fire pit, roasting marshmallows and rooting on our favorite football teams. Being outside doesn't have to mean freezing for fashion, but embracing the weather and enjoying the crisp air. Choosing the right items for fall will allow you to enjoy whatever you are doing and not hide behind a bulky sweater or a huge coat. Save those items for when the snow is falling and you have strapped on your skis.
Layers, Not Bulk Keep You Warm:
Staying warm but cool requires layering your body, not adding bulk. Leggings underneath your jeans provide for extra warmth. Multiple layers of lightweight socks will keep your feet warm more than one thick pair. Wear an undershirt. Thin layers will keep you warmer in these months than bulky items and isn't it nice not to freeze to and from your work?
Solids Never Go Out of Style:
When you look back on fashion one thing remains the same, solids never go out of style. When choosing your outfit for an occasion, allow solids to be the backbone of your wardrobe. One punch of color, pattern or metal brings it all into shape. A busy floral may seem pretty now, but in five years will seem dated. You don't want to be dated do you?
Dress for the Weather:
Nothing is worse than not dressing for the weather. We dress our kids for it so why not ourselves? Check out the forecast before you dress in the morning and plan accordingly. If it is rainy, wear your rain boots and raincoat. If you are running to a meeting, carry a cute bag with your heels and change before it. If the temperatures are going to fall throughout the day, be sure to keep a jacket in your car or at your desk.
Color Coordinate Your Boots and Gloves:
Fall is all about breaking out the boots for those cooler days. When heading outside for fall festivities, color coordinating your boots and gloves adds such a classy look. Choosing boots and gloves in the same color and texture shows you took the extra time to plan your wardrobe and finish off your look.
Backless Can Be Sexy and Warm:
Nothing says sexy like a woman's back. Cleavage bearing tops are so overdone but a woman's back should be shown more. A quick way to transform your wardrobe is to switch around a cardigan or cropped jacket. Tuck into your pants and add a belt. The surprised look of an exposed back is nicer than the surprise of a push up bra.
Don't Wear Sweatpants in Public:
Sweatpants may be nice and comfortable but are so unattractive. Keep them on your couch and choose a nice jean, khaki, or legging when out an about. How many times have you seen women out and about in sweatpants and wondered why they didn't change beforehand? When you wear them out, people are asking the same thing.
