7 ways to celebrate Romance Awareness Month in August

Romance isn't just for the ladies. Guys like that extra expression of love as well, and if you've been lacking lately in that department, August is Romance Awareness Month and the perfect time to start up again. Even if your guy isn't the "romantic type," he'll appreciate you doing something sweet for him even if he isn't very expressive about it. Whether you have a large or small budget to work with, there are several romantic gestures you can do for your guy during Romance Awareness Month.

    Treat him to lunch

Send him a text mid-morning and ask him if he's free for lunch and if he is, let him know you're taking him out for a surprise. Another option is to send his favorite lunch to the office and pay for it ahead of time so it's all taken care of.

Surprise him with his favorite dessert

Should your guy have a favorite dessert he doesn't eat very often, surprise him with it one night after dinner. Whether you make or buy it, don't let him know you have it until he sees it in front of him once the meal is finished.

    Give him an edible present

Pick up a pack of your guy's favorite beer along with his favorite snack then wrap a ribbon around them both. Put it on top of his favorite chair or on his side of the bed so he'll find it when he's changing after work. Consider doing it on a Friday so it's a great way to end the long week.

    Leave him a surprise note

You don't have to write a long, sappy letter, but write something short and sweet and put it where he'll find it. Leave it in his coat pocket, in his wallet or in his briefcase so he'll come across it at some point during the day. It's even better if you can do this on a day when you know he's going to be extra stressed, such as when he has a big meeting.

Steal him away for a weekend

On a weekend when both of you have no plans, let your guy know on Friday morning that you're stealing him away for a romantic weekend. Pack his suitcase so he has no hints about where the two of you are going. It'll be a wonderful opportunity for the both of you to get away from the area and break routine for a bit.

    Book a sitter

One night during Romance Awareness Month in August, book a sitter to watch the kids (or pet!) and plan a date night out for you and your guy. Even if you just go to dinner and a movie, it'll be a fantastic night out of the house and a surprise he'll appreciate.

    Surprise him with tickets

Almost every guy would love to get tickets to some type of event whether it's a concert or a sports game. Surprise him with a set of tickets, but as the kicker to the romantic surprise, tell him to take a friend. It's a double dose romantic gesture - he gets the tickets and a guy's night out all in one.

Nice gestures for your guy should happen year-round, but Romance Awareness Month in August is a chance to kick it up a notch. It's a way to express your love and show your appreciation for a man who stands by your side and supports you. It'll be a pleasant surprise for him and one he won't soon forget.
