On today's show we met extreme cheapskates who take frugal to a whole new level. Lynnette Khalfani-Cox aka "The Money Coach" was on hand to give real, practical and sanitary tips that save both cash and energy resources. If you missed any of her tips from the show, see our list for all the information:
Practical Moneysaving Tips 1. Faucet Aerator
Lynette says buying a faucet aerator, which usually costs around $2, helps control water pressure in your household and could save you up to $550 in five years. Just snap this device on your kitchen sink and you'll be saving in no time!
View a number of faucet aerators at different prices at Amazon.com.
2. Toilet FlapperTo help control water costs in your bathroom, Lynette suggests buying a toilet flapper. This device seals water in your toilet basin and releases when you flush. Because it's made of plastic, Lynette urges you to replace the flapper once a year. She estimates using one will save you around $110 a year.
Review prices for toilet flappers at Google.com or Google.com.
3. MyEnergy.comGo to MyEnergy.com to better understand energy use in your home. Lynette says the site will do a personal audit of your consumption - testing water, electricity, and will even show you how your energy consumption compares to your neighbor's. It's a great resource for learning how to cut your energy costs!
4. Get LocavoreGet Locavore is an app that helps you pinpoint great places for local, fresh, healthy and cheap food. No need to go dumpster diving!
Learn more about the app at GetLocavore.com.
5. Grocery iQGrocery iQ is another app Lynette recommends to lower the cost of your groceries. You can scan grocery items in your home, create a list and then let the app show you where to get coupons to save more money on the items you already use.
Download the app at GroceryiQ.com.
