List Tool Name: Top 5 Items to Look Out for at Flea Markets

    1. Precious Metals
Precious metals are a great buy, especially in a down economy. Sterling silver items (look for "925" or "sterling" marks,) are great purchases. Objects made of gold (14k) and gold jewelry are very collectible as well, since gold is worth more than $1,600 an ounce. These metals are liquid, so you can enjoy your gold jewelry and your silver tea sets, but at the end of the day you can melt them down for cash.

    2. Old Books
Look on the 25 cent table for first edition old books. Check the copyright page at the beginning of the book; if the copyright has a single year listed, you're well on your way.

    3. Out-of-Date Collectibles
You know those silver spoons or small Hummel figurines your great Aunt collected? They hold their value and are desirable at auction, so keep your eye out for them.

    4. Bibles
Bibles are always in demand. Be sure to check the bindings because condition is always important to those who collect bibles and other old books.

    5. 'Mod' Items
"Mid-century modern or "mod" items made in the 1950s and early 1960s are in demand right now. I'm sure the influence of popular cable shows such as "Mad Men" and "Magic City" have a lot to do with it, but no matter, they're hot! Items you can keep an eye out for include designer ashtrays, clocks, salt and pepper shakers, dinnerware, music records, vases, and floor lamps.
