Losing Weight by Dr. Ro Brock: Map a Plan
When trying to lose weight, set a realistic goal for yourself and map a plan to make that goal happen. Set a weight loss target, and work toward it. In order to lose 1 pound, you need to burn an extra 500 calories per day, or eat 500 calories less. Knowing this, map out a plan of food and exercise that will help you reach your weight loss goal.

Losing Weight by Dr. Ro Brock: Control Your Foodscape
Dr. Ro has coined the term "foodscape" to define all that surrounds you and relates to food. The majority of your life has elements of food or eating. Become aware of where food is most tempting to you, and take control of those situations. For example, are you constantly tempted by treats at the office? Pack your own, healthy snacks for work to distract your from the treats.

Losing Weight by Dr. Ro Brock: Recommit to Your Weight Loss
Losing weight is not a temporary endeavor; it is a new way of approaching life and eating that should be lasting. You need to consistently recommit to this goal of weight loss, and Dr. Ro says the best way to do this is by keeping track of everything you eat. Keep a food diary, which details everything you've had to eat or drink all day and will also note your various physical activities throughout the day.

Getting Out of Debt by Alexa von Trobel: Organize Your Debt
The best way to do this is by compartmentalizing your debt and keeping each category of debt in one, common place. Create an email address that is specific for bills, and set up calendar alerts for each day that a bill payment is due. You also need to prioritize your debt -- evaluate if there are certain aspects of your financial life that can be reasonably paid off.

Getting Out of Debt by Alexa von Trobel: Create an Online Budget
Visit an online budgeting site, such as LearnBest.com, and start budgeting online for a more effective and accessible budgeting database. You can merge all of your various accounts so you can evaluate the things on which you are spending your income.

Getting Out of Debt by Alexa von Trobel: Manage Your Credit Cards
While it might be tempting to close all of your credit cards at once when you're in debt, this can actually really destroy your credit score. Instead, close a maximum of one credit card per year to avoid lowering your credit score. For other cards that you'd like to close, set them aside with post-it notes stating a date when you can safely close them without credit score repercussions.

Also, determine the interest rate on your credit cards. The average interest rate on a card is 15%. If you are paying more than this, call your credit card company and ask them to either lower your interest rate or ask for a 0% balance transfer, which you can do once per year.

Break a Bad Habit by Dr. Ramani: Narrow it Down
If you have a bad habit you are trying to break, don't try to eliminate this habit from your life completely. Going cold turkey almost always results in failure, so instead, narrow down your habit. If you usually eat 7 cookies per day, try narrowing it down to 4.

Break a Bad Habit by Dr. Ramani: Replace the Bad Habit
Dr. Ramani says that her bad habit is eating junk food at airports. She said a great way she helped to defeat this problem is by calling a good friend and chatting on the phone after she'd bought the junk food. By the time the phone call was over, her temptation had subsided, and she was able to throw away most of the junk food without eating it. Now, when she wants to eat junk food at airports, she does something she enjoys -- she calls a friend instead.

Break a Bad Habit by Dr. Ramani: Prescribe the Symptom
Instead of cutting a habit out, acknowledge that you have a bad habit and force yourself to oblige to that habit once a day, but do it in a limited and controlled way. If your bad habit is eating sweets, allow yourself 2 sweets per day at exactly noon. This will help you from eating sweets all day long, and it will become a routine that you can monitor rather than a compulsive habit.
