    Transgender Beauty Contestant

Kylan Wenzel, the first transgender person to compete in a Miss California pageant, expressed her excitement and said she's not nervous about the contest. Wenzel, 26, said she had her gender reassignment surgery six months ago and said it's been a dream to be in this contest since she was 11 years old.

When asked if Kylan always felt like a woman, she replied, "I always felt like I was a girl. It took me a little longer to process it, but yes, I was definitely a woman."
