You do not want to scare them away or give them the impression that the answer they give you is wrong or right. Get alone with them and make it clear that if they need to talk, you're ready to listen. You can provide them with a great deal of solace just by letting them know they are not alone.
Today is not a good day for investments of any kind. You'll most likely find it hard to communicate and relate to others. However, it's a great time to stimulate your mind. Read a good book or take out your chess set. Staying low-key will leave little room for upsets.
