Do not be intimidated by anyone in the room -- chances are they will be impressed by your attitude and enlightened by what you have to say. When a friend makes a confession, tell them straight up what you think -- they deserve to know.
You could get a break from your many obligations and have time to catch up on old projects. Try to be thoughtful and caring to a friend who might need a shoulder to lean on. You may be a little distant from your love partner while you're busy thinking about the practical side of life.
