Find another way to promote yourself, don't get other people involved in it. There's nothing wrong with trying to make the world see you in a certain light, but there's no need to create a big drama around it. Your best advertisement is to just be yourself. Putting on an act that you want people to see is just exhausting.
Don't let your mind get to you today. Feelings of being threatened and frightened will soon pass. Take short trips if you're traveling. Having a partner to fill the void is not in your favor today.
