Let your generosity and compassion play a major role in any type of bargaining you do today. You can't focus so intently on how much you give others in the context of a negotiation -- if you do, you will always feel like you're on the losing end of the deal. Instead, you have to focus on the connection you are enjoying with this person. Work toward having a future with them in some way. If you do, the goodwill you exhibit will be far surpassed by the goodwill you gain from others.
