It's important to trust your friends and loved ones when they give you advice about your heart and your feelings, but right now you should not listen to any of their financial advice. It's not wise to mix money with love, and what they are proposing is a lot riskier for you than they may realize. And it's a risk that just won't pay off. They don't have to know that you're not taking their recommendation, so don't tell them if you can avoid it. There are some touchy ego issues involved here.
