Here are the steps being fulfilled in your work. First, have a great idea. Second, implement it. Of course, there are lots of in-between things: considering your idea, weighing it against other ideas (yours and other people's), researching whether or not it is really a good idea, gathering more information, telling the people you need to tell, selling it to the folks you need to sell it to. Getting the resources and making sure you have an adequate team could also be important steps, depending on what kind of idea it is.
