    My friend, who is a home designer, once told me that when you need to decorate a room, pull every piece of swipe that appeals to you (or pin it on Pinterest) and then look at everything you've pulled for common themes. When I was decorating my nursery, I was no different. I pulled hundreds of photos from magazines, bookmarked images online, and poured through home decor books. Although all the photos I gravitated to seemed different at first glance, ultimately I discovered one theme that ran throughout. White wood floors. Colors popped and everything took on a very modern feel, even if the nursery was filled with vintage furniture and toys. Some rooms have an opaque white painted look (which is great for making dark rustic floors feel modern) while the other will give an overall white appearance but still let the wood grain show through.
