    No matter where you live, it can be really difficult to get to know your neighbors. In the world we live in today, we spend less time outside interacting with people and more time inside interacting with machines. Any Angry Birds addict will tell you it's not a bad life, but it sure can get lonely. I'm really lucky to have a close group of friends in my neighborhood -- we celebrate holidays and occasions together, show up with meals when someone has a baby, and circle around when someone gets divorced or has a death in the family. We really are more like family. But I didn't form these friendships overnight. It took months of effort, but I learned that if you're willing to put yourself out there, most other people will be too.
