Step up your holiday game with Pinterest! Using Pinterest for holiday inspiration
The holidays are my favorite time of year - a time when I can get together with friends and family, sharing special meals, gifts, and relationships. My kids share in the holiday joy, getting excited over pumpkin pie, handprint turkeys, Christmas trees - well, just about anything!
If you're looking for holiday inspiration relating to fashion, decoration, or food and have yet to explore Pinterest, now is the perfect time! Whether you've been a fan of the holidays for years like I have or you're just starting to get into the spirit, Pinterest has something for every holiday lover!
Pinterest is an image-sharing website designed for users to share ideas and inspiration in the form of a social scrapbook. If you like to keep up on what your friends are posting, and share contributions of your own, you'll love being able to endlessly scroll through boards created by friends and folks who regularly blog subjects relating to your personal interests. All boards are public, so people can choose to follow your interests and you can follow theirs.

The biggest hurdle you'll face when starting to use Pinterest is the sheer volume of material. You'll notice the homepage scrolls downward with thousands of items tailored exactly to your interests. That's a lot of inspiration to sort through! And because the search function is relatively limited, at times it can be challenging to find exactly what you're looking for. If someone comes up regularly with content you really like, you can follow a specific Pinterest user or board.
If you're looking for holiday inspiration on Pinterest, start with a simple search like "Thanksgiving." From there you can add terms, searching for crafts, decorations, printables, or delicious food to make.
If you find something that you really like, you can click through to see the user who pinned it and whether their personal holiday taste matches yours. From there you can discover users who have great ideas year-round you can keep coming back to!
Once you find something you like, you can "repin" links onto your own collection of boards for easy reference. I have many boards that I can look through when it's time to do crafts with kids or go shopping for winter clothes!

You may find that witnessing the creativity of others inspires you to try something of your own - sewn together from the best ideas from around the world. You'll likely find a project to dedicate your time and attention to and get the great feeling that comes from creating something! The best part of Pinterest is that there's truly something for everyone, whether you're a beginner or expert.
Once you familiarize yourself with the wonder of Pinterest, you'll soon realize that one hour spent viewing creative pins can turn into many, many more. You'll start looking for homemade gifts to create for your neighbors and before you know it, you've ventured into DIY garden gnomes or motivational quotes!
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to attempt to make marshmallows into snowmen.
