YOUR FRIENDS' ACTIVITY

    Season's Greetings from the DACED

    Season's Greetings DACED friends,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, or currently a great Hanukkak, as well as getting ready for Christmas, Kwanzaa, and New Year's. It's so busy this time of year, and I just wanted to remind you there is one less item you don't have to worry about - - - there's no DACED meeting this month. We are not meeting next week. So, please don't show up. You may be the only one there ! The next general membership meeting will be on January 25th. our Speaker will be Sheriff Lupe Valdez.

Now, since I have your attention, let me catch you up on things since I last wrote to all of you.

At our November meeting, we held club elections. There was a couple of changes in the lineup, but overall your executive committee is still pretty much the same as last years'. For everyone who did not attend, the election results are as follows: President - Sergio Garcia, Vice President - Fernando Rojas, Treasurer - Margaret Hall, Correspondence Secretary - Shannon Long, Parliamentarian - Cindy Smethie, and Recording Secretary - Susie Hess. I look forward to working with them in the New Year, starting with an executive committee meeting in January to be held before the general meeting.- Time and location still to be determined.

On Dec 3rd our club held it's annual Holiday party. This year Elizabeth Walley let us hold it at her home, and I thank her very much for doing that. We had alot of people attend, and we collected many donations totaling nearly $400 for our MSS adopted family, and the gifts that the donation provided were delivered to the Mesquite Social Services on Dec. 15th

This past Saturday Dec.17th our club participated in the Balch Springs Holiday Parade. We had two vehicles and 6 clubmembers participate. We interacted with the people, had a good reception from them, and passed over 400 pieces of club & candidate literature. Thank you to everyone who helped out in this event.

For those of you who missed participating in this parade, don't worry the next parade we'll be participating in is the MLK Day Parade next month in Garland on January 14th.

And as always, we'll be holding our weekly Democratic Social at the Panera Bread here in Mesquite.8-10:AM It's not a meeting, it's open to everyone, and it's a great way to start your Saturday with good coffee & great conversation with friends. Hope you can make it.

    Happy Holidays !
