Spring's Hot Home Color Trend: Minty Fresh

The color mint is popping up everywhere, from the runway to interiors. Here's a look at nine chic living spacesin the season's top color trend.

To bring a feeling of nature into a New York living room, designer Fawn Galli used a custom minty green: "I don't think a color should be too saturated or strong on a wall." Pal + Smith chairs in a cheetah print-Safari by Manuel Canovas - with a Paley sofa from Profiles, a Fiona Curran Palette carpet for the Rug Company, and a painting by Anne Siems give the room "a sense of storybook fantasy."

2. Mint Makeover
Designer Kathryn Ireland brought bright color and a relaxed atmosphere to this 1928 Spanish-style cottage, giving the kitchen a mint makeover. Folding windows open the kitchen up to the patio. Pendant lights from Liz's Antique Hardware. Custom tiles from Mission Tile West.

In the master bedroom of this Palm Beach home by designer Allison Paladinio, a bed from Drexel Heritage's Postobello collection and nightstands by Thomas Pheasant for Baker are "rich and elegant" against walls painted Benjamin Moore's Mesquite. Settee is covered in Cowtan & Tout's Trailing Leaf Linen.

In this California kitchen by designer Madeline Stuart, perimeter cabinets are painted Benjamin Moore's Sherwood Green. The islands are painted black "to ground the space and tie everything in," says Stuart. Aquamarine marble on perimeter counters from Modul Marble. Revival series tile from Mission Tile West. The hood above the 60-inch Viking range was designed by Stuart and made out of stainless steel with polished nickel trim.

5. Spring Mint
For the living room of a traditional New York apartment, designer Todd Klein chose a light, cool green. "If you think of a house as having seasons, the living room is spring," Klein says. Graphic black-and-white fabrics from China Seas-Macoco Reverse on the sofa and Potalla Background on the pillow-"add a touch of youthfulness and whimsy." Walls are Vreeland Mint and trim is White, both in Brilliant, by Fine Paints of Europe.

Canopy beds are a favorite of designer Timothy Whealon, "as long as they're not too dressed. I like air and space. This is a cozy, clean, modern bedroom with classical lines." For this New York apartment's bedroom, he chose Farrow & Ball's Parma Gray on the walls because it plays up the greens of the pillows and bench of the turquoise of the 1960s lamps.

In this oceanfront Palm Beach house, designer Allison Paladino glazed the living room walls bright green to capture the light and painted the woodwork white to calm it down. "The bright green in the sunroom is gutsy, but the room is actually quite relaxing because I restricted the palette to green and white to create calm," she says. "If I'd added another color the room would be jarring." Ficks Reed's St. Denis Lounge Chairs and ottomans are covered in Woodland Fern and Baker Slipper chairs are covered in Monterey in Citron Green; both fabrics from Brunschwig & Fils. Ferncroft needlepoint rug from Jack Walsh Carpets.

For a Florida bedroom, designer Jennifer Garrigues set off Poter Paints' Parsley Tint 6998-1 with Benjamin Moore's Cloud White 967 on the trim. "This pale aqua green is like the ocean when it's so clear you can see the sand through the water. It reminds me of holidays and sunshine and how calm you feel when you sit on the shore and watch the waves breaking," she says.
