5 Things that Make You Look Older

5 Things That Make You Look Older5 Things That Make You Look Older

It's not just wrinkles -- find what else is piling on the years.

For a turn-back-the-clock complexion, it's not just about smoothing wrinkles. Here are the skincare issues that are adding years to your skin. We've got the deets on these premature signs of aging, and the products that will make them go buh-bye.

Dark Circles: VMV Hypoallergenics Re-Everything Eye Serum

When you're exhausted, your eyes suddenly sport matching dark circles. While concealer is a handy ally, treat the underlying problem with a brightening, firming eye serum. VMV Hypoallergenics Re-Everything Eye Serum contains a powerful vasoactive that strengthens the capillaries under the eyes to preventing dark circles from forming.

Unevenness: FIX Malibu Immaculate Complexion Advanced Antioxidant Serum

They're called age spots for a reason. Caused by sun exposure, these dark areas are an overproduction of melanin in the skin. Sunscreen will help prevent further damage -- it's never too late to start using daily SPF! -- but what about counteracting damage already done? Enlist the help of antioxidants: Fix Malibu's Immaculate Complexion Advanced Antioxidant Serum uses a potent blend of vitamins A, C, and E to minimize UV-induced pigmentation.

    Dryness: BORGHESE CuraForte Moisture Intensifier

Flakiness can make skin look sallow and lackluster. If your regular moisturizer isn't cutting it, amp up its hydrating power by combining it with a serum. We've affectionately nicknamed BORGHESE's CuraForte Moisture Intensifier serum 'super soaker' because it increases skin's capacity to hold hydration by 200 percent. The star ingredient: hyaluronic acid, which holds 1,000 times its weight in water.

Dullness: Clark's Botanicals Smoothing Marine Cream

If your complexion is less than radiant, it's probably because you aren't exfoliating enough. When dead skin cells start to accumulate at the skin's surface, they don't just make your skin look lackluster - they also keep all of your other products, like antioxidant-loaded serums and rich creams, from working. Clark's Botanicals Smoothing Marine Cream is a double threat to dullness because the anti-aging formula contains glycolic acid to turn over dead skin.

Puffy Eyes: Origins GinZing™ Refreshing Eye Cream

As we age, the skin under our eyes loses its elasticity and bags can form. One of the best ways to combat those pillowy areas is to pick an eye cream with caffeine. Applied topically, caffeine eliminates excess water in skin tissue, which reduces swelling. Origins' GinZing™ Refreshing Eye Cream has a healthy dose of the stimulant, plus Hesperidin, an orange extract that can release pent-up fluids.

Olive oil can also serve as: eye makeup remover, and hair and conditioner. I buy a big jug of it at Sam's Club. It doesn't have to be any particular brand or expensive. People in other countries have been using that for CENTURIES. Plus, I love to cook with it because it's good for you on the INSIDE too :) All these companies advertising "miracle creams," etc. are selling you things with fancy names and packaging, and if they really work, you can find the active ingredients in your pantry!

As for an exfoliator, use plain old oatmeal, mixed with oil or water...
      • Hello 3 months ago
Totally agree....you can also exfoliate with baking soda, make a paste w/ water gently massage on face, feet, elbows.....GREAT. Agree w/ Vaseline for smoothing the wrinkles around your eyes. The # ONE beauty treatment is limit your alcohol, stop smoking, drink lots of water and eat well.No brainer.

Did you see the prices for these products?? Unreal!
      • Hello 3 months ago
Yes! boycott them and make your own.
      • Jade 3 months ago
Guess they are for the rich not the masses who strive to put food on the table

Plenty of stuff in your home to use that is just as effective. Baby oil for removing makeup and moisturizing whole body.....corn meal and soap for exfoliating.... LOOK UP HOMEMADE MAKEUP TRICKS.

use slices of cucumbers under your eyes for puffiness... that's one for ordinary people.
Also some people use wet teabags.
    • Quicksilver8  •  3 months ago
Just know that kindness to the skin does not have to be expensive. Read the ingredients for most of this stuff. Then the rest can be figured out. A mixture of oils can be purchased and combined . Tea bags are great for puffy eyes especially after the bag has cooled off excessively. There are natural facial mask recipes out there. Find the one that works the best for you. Astringents are good.. aka Hazel witch or even a golden colored mouth wash. Generic will do. Stay out of the direct sun or use hats, longer sleeves and etc. You get the idea. Use your imagination and psssst... the internet for more info!! Cheers!

Who's selling what here? Reads to me like all the other ads you see. Just very expensive and no proof it's worth anything

I agree, drink water, water, water NOT soda! Also, plenty of sleep and nutritious food, moisturize (you don't need expensive stuff).

Five Inexpensive REAL WORLD remedies for these problems that don't cost a fortune:

DARK CIRCLES: Get as much sleep as possible and drink plenty of water. Ladies make sure not to rub your eyes with eye makeup on. It'll smudge everywhere, making it look like you have dark circles. Also, rubbing too much irritates the skin and breaks the little blood vessels under your lids, giving you darker circles and redness.
UNEVENNESS: Too many spots? A light tinted moisturizer from the drug store helps cover that up in a jiff. Secondly, were sunscreen! It slows down those blotches.
DRYNESS: Love me some light almond oil after a shower or a simple lotion with as few ingredients as possible listed on the back. Even Suave Cocoa butter lotion (yeah, $2 for a giant bottle!) will smooth everything right up, and it absorbs into your skin fast!
DULLNESS: Don't cake on the make-up powder. Also, try a scrub in the shower: sugar, salt, or apricot. You can find quick recipes online to make your own.
PUFFY EYES: Camomile teabags. Those are miracle baggies! Just make a cup of tea (killing dark circles as a bonus!) and save the bags. Let them cool a bit before you use them, so they are comfortably warm to the touch, and place them over your eyes for 5 minutes. Aaaaaaamazing.

      Cheap, Easy, and Effective! :)

Fix for dark circles: Sleep! Dryness: St.Ives lotion, costs 3 bucks at dollar store. Dullness: Eat more vitamin C and other fruits. Puffy eyes: the cucumbers you laughed at Mom for putting on her eyes. Unevenness: No idea about that one.
    • Who am I  •  3 months ago
So basically this whole article is one giant ADVERTISEMENT! The best way to not age is not available, because we all age. Water helps, lots of it, and less stress... yeah, anybody know how to eliminate that???

As for your commercial for all the expensive creams and treatments - get real in this economy for most of us! Besides all the natural remedies that readers listed, I've found the Melaleuca products far superior to any of the store bought products, even those real expensive designer ones, and they have many (and more) of the same powerful ingredients!

      Advertisement? Sure looks like this.
