I recently read the most endearing post from a young user who has spent the last 3 years as part of the Shine community. Her post was a thank you to her Yahoo! Shine buddies for helping her become the young woman she is today - "I found friends who would read my stories and my opinions when people in the real world wouldn't".
The post reminded me what a unique place Shine is. Here you you can voice your opinion and offer advice, share heartaches and victories, and discuss lessons learned, all of it through user generated content worth reading time and again.
Here are my picks of posts that deserve that second look:
I can always count on Gretchen Rubin, author of the Book of Happiness, to deliver little morsels that just seem to make life better. Here are my recent favorites:
Trying To Make Home Happier: Give Warm Greetings and Farewells.
If I Can't Accomplish Anything Else Today, I Can Do These 10 Things.
If you're looking for a mate, Anje offers up some sage advice in her post 'A word to the wise on finding a partner'.
The decision to breastfeed or not breastfeed is a private and personal one. One I know from experience requires a lot of support. This is why I appreciate the ending of Redz's post 'Chilling out on the Breast feeding debate : Everyone is entitled to their opinion'.
I can't even fathom how Shine user WhatAtrip manages with triplets and a 13-year old. Seriously. She has my vote for Mother-of-the-Year. Here, she inspires me with 'Bake Me a Cake As Fast As You Can . . .'
And on a personal note: Today was a big day in our household - my boys turned 1 years old. Happy Birthday burrittos. Your mama & pappa love you very much.
