Help Us Support Breast Cancer Awareness

One out of every 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during her lifetime.* As women, it's a disease that affects us all, either personally or our family and friends. I'm no different. Ten years ago, my aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer. Although she fought hard, she lost her battle in November 2007. I had my own scare when a routine mammogram turned into an urgent biopsy. Thankfully it was benign.

Shine is committed to the fight against this terrible disease, and we're proud to tell you about a special Yahoo! for Good campaign in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. During the month of October, you can go to the Breast Cancer Awareness page (http://shine.yahoo.com/page/breast-cancer-awareness-2009) to change your status message to one in support of the fight against breast cancer that will be seen across all of Yahoo!. For every user who updates, Yahoo! will donate $1 to help uninsured women get free mammograms. We'll have the page up all month, displaying a map of Yahoo! users from around the world helping the cause. Let's raise money and awareness!

Do you have a breast-cancer story of your own? Shine wants to hear your experiences -- the triumphs and tragedies, messages of hope, and anything else you want to share. Shine will be featuring community content on the Breast Cancer Awareness, just below that map of updates.

Change your status, write about your experiences, and help us support Breast Cancer Awareness!
