Mac Computer Sales Space Reached Six Times of Industry Average

Market research firm Gartner and IDC's latest research report released Wednesday, Mac computer sales rate has been 22 consecutive quarters of more than the industry average. In the most recent quarter, Mac computer sales rate reached six times of industry average.

According to Gartner, "Early studies show that Apple is the fastest growing company of U.S. top five PC vendors , Apple's PC shipments increased by 21.5% in the third quarter of 2011. MacBook Air will be continue to promote the steady growth of Apple in the United States overall market growth. "Mac computer sales growth rate is 20 times of market average growth rate in U.S. And IDC believes that Mac sales growth rate is 80 times of the average market growth rate.

According to Gartner, Apple's third quarter PC market share was 12.9% in U.S. IDC estimates Apple's market share was 11.3%, came in front of it was Hewlett-Packard and Dell, their market share was 28.6% and 21.9%. Of course, if Gartner or IDC put iPad counted as a computer, then above data will be very different. The two market research companies are acknowledged in the report that iPad sales has affected the PC market, at least for Apple's competitors had an impact. Gartner said: "including the iPad media tablet and iPhone and other smart phones and other non-PC products had taken away the original investment on the PC consumer spending." IDC analyst David Road called this phenomenon for the "iPad substitution effect."
