Today friends, was the beginning of a new era. The start of something that has been "a long time coming".Thank you George W. Bush for, without your bumbling and ineptitude this might not have happened so soon. When I say soon, I mean in my life time. I've been waiting all my life for this moment and thanks to the grace of God, my dream has come true. I always told my kids that, I believed that we would have a man of color as our Commander and Chief some day but...not in my lifetime. I thank God that I was wrong. I know that President Obama is not the Messiah but, for some of us he is the closest thing to it.You see, I know what racism really feels like. Growing up in the South during the past few decades I knew Jim Crow personally. I know what it was like to be forced to ride on the back of the bus, even though there were empty seats in the front. I know what it was like to drink from "colored" water fountains or to have to hold my urine because there were no restrooms for "colored" people in the resturant that I was eating in or having to sit in the balcony of the local movie theater because only "whites" could sit in the down stairs seats. Yes I've been subjected to the humiliation of being pasted over for a job simply because of the color of my skin. Only people who have experienced the crushing effect of subtle unspoken racism can truelly relate to that feeling. As Michelle Obama once said "today I am proud to be an American". May God bless Barack Obama and his family and make him strong enough to handle the cluster f*** that he inherited from "W". I'm just saying.
Now we are truely part of the American Dream
