YOUR FRIENDS' ACTIVITY

    In Praise of Women’s Clothing

The famous movie star, Marilyn Monroe made a very good point and observation; namely that we, women, can feel we will accomplish much if we dress well. It may not be a scientific fact; however, I personally have noticed a tremendous improvement in people's work when they're in their appropriate 9-5 attire, compared to the lazy Casual Friday garb.

They do make the man, that is, woman. The right clothes give us confidence in our ability to look good and be taken seriously. There's nothing like a fresh silk (or blend) blouse that rubs upon your wrist to make you feel more feminine and therefore, more capable to take the task on hand.

Whether in a meeting or a small briefing, it's this lady who commands attention and is given more feedback. The one who is pleasant to look at receives the pleasantries from co-workers, subordinates and superiors alike.

    Clothes are a wonder

Women's clothing can do wonders anywhere you are; be it on the street hailing a cab, getting in line at the post office or waiting on the subway to grab a seat. Men react and react swiftly to the allure of their feminine counterparts. They appreciate seeing the self-evident difference at a time when sometimes you have to wait for the person in front of you to turn their head so you can know for certain what gender he or she is. With Marilyn, God bless her, there would never have been any doubt at any angle!

    Clothes are fun

We all know that as women, we have more options to choose from as compared to men.

How many times have we sighed because a co-worker arrived for the umpteenth time in the same blue suit? It would appear their choices are limited while ours are boundless.

Let's take advantage of this great benefit and have fun juggling pieces as we explore new options for our wardrobes.

    The way to success

So, what is the way to dress? It seems a delicate balance is what needs to be sought after.

Knowing your body; your gorgeous legs, for example, along with your big hips will assist in selecting fashions that accentuate the former and DE-emphasize the latter. If you're not tall, dress in verticals and/or monochromes (one color).

Feminism aside and out of any discussion on women's clothing for obvious reasons, the goal is to look comfortable with a capital C, feminine and have that great quality of femininity, allurement and mystery packed as one single unit. Qualities that can be seen in your favorite black dress to your oldest blue jeans, because in the end, that quality may very well be style; your own!
