    Sept. DACED Membership meeting is Today 9-28-11

    Happy Autumn DACED Friends,

    Today we'll be holding our General membership meeting for the month of September. Our Speaker will be Hobie Hukill from MOVE ON. He should give us a good talk, and I look forward to hearing what he has to say.

    Since our last meeting, we have lost one of our own. Ms. Charlotte Hayes went home to be with the Lord on September 9th, She was a great Democrat, longtime member of the DACED and a wonderful friend. She will be greatly missed.

    At this year's DCDP Labor day picnic, our club participated once again in the yearly event. I want to thank everyone who came out and helped man our table and promote the club.

    I would also like to give Congratulations to Fernando Rojas. Who, on Oct.15th, was elected the 1st President of of the new Mesquite Chapter of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC). This is a group I think that this part of Dallas County could really use. With so many important issues facing the Hispanic population here in the Dallas area, the main LULAC chapter in Dallas simply cannot be everywhere it needed. So I'm happy the Mesquite LULAC will now be able to lend a helping hand here in our community.

    Our weekly Democratic Social at Panera Bread is still going strong. It's always a wonderful way to start your weekend with friends, good coffee, and great conversation. It's a come-and-go deal every Saturday morning between 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM at the Panera Bread in Mesquite. Everybody is welcome.

    Lastly, President Obama will be visiting Dallas on October 4th for a campaign event. So, everybody behave yourselves and keep the city presentable. The last time he was here was in 2008 and hopefully we won't have to wait another 3 1/2 years before he visits us again. A few of you and several other friends of ours will be attending the event the event. I'm sure all of us will want to hear all about it afterwards. Tell'em I said 'Hi".

    The Dallas County East Democrats (DACED) meets at Martinez Restaurant 901 Gross Rd. in Mesquite 75149 every last Weds of the month.
