"Dakota Fanning's collarbone-grazing cut-with a tiny bit of layering snipped vertically into the ends-works for everyone," says hairstylist Tommy Buckett of the Marie Robinson salon in New York City. "It's just past the shoulders, so it looks like long hair without the upkeep-thick hair is weighed down, and fine hair won't look stringy." It complements most face shapes; however, more people look better with a side part rather than a middle one. "Experiment with different parts to see what works best for you," says Buckett.
ALLURE TIP: Have the stylist cut the ends right at your collarbone or two inches below-anything in between can cause a funny flip.
