The Ability to Reason: Our Best Hope

Back in the days when I busted my butt to afford school, the general idea was to teach the kids how to reason so this country could heal itself in the waning days of the Vietnam war. Well, we're war torn again. Nowdays, the idea seems to be to go in hawk to pay the enormous costs of education, and for what? To learn how to increase profit margins in business. Whatever happened to liberal arts, classic principles of economics, and the general idea of using ones head to reason out difficulties to find answers one can live with? I, for one, do not worship the bomb!
