Every year I come up with list of New Year's resolutions that I hope will better my body, mind and soul. Side note: My husband and I also create a list together full of activities and random things we want to do throughout the year. When we're bored, we pull out the list and say, "Let's do that!"
Beauty resolutions are in a whole other category, though. I try to make goals that aren't horribly overwhelming to stay on top of, but that will also make a difference in the end. My below beauty resolutions for 2013 should easily accomplish both requirements.
Yes -- they are things I should be doing anyway. However, that can be said of many resolutions.
Wash and Moisturizer Face Every Night
I recently wrote a story that focused on gorgeous celebrities over 40 who looked fabulous for their age. In addition to regular exercise and healthy diets. these celebrities all had one thing in common: detailed skin routines. Every night -- no matter how tired they were after a day's work or night of partying -- they always washed their face and moisturized. I'll admit that I skip face washing more often than I should, so I've made it a goal to wash and moisturize my face every day of the year.
Be Better to My Hair
I use a lot of heating products on my hair, all for the sake of making it look beautiful. The problem with such a heat-heavy hair routine, though, is that hair gets damaged. Ironic, isn't it? My second beauty resolution for 2013 is treat my hair with more respect. I plan to air dry my hair whenever possible and to curl or straighten only when necessary. Also, when I use heating products, I will use a heat protector spray.
Break Away From Go-To Makeup
I love playing with makeup, but for some reason I always go to my same old go-to face every time I go out. Toward the end of 2012 I began dabbling into YouTube makeup tutorials and had such a great time applying new makeup looks and getting compliments on my efforts when I went out. My final beauty goal for 2013 is to experiment even more with different colors (I have a hard time leaving the brown/copper family).
