Whether you are 25 or 40, you are never too old to rock nail art. Decorating your nails with fun colors and designs never goes out of style and can enhance your entire appearance. My personal favorite nail art pattern is polka dots; this nail art pattern is super simple to create and looks adorable. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to achieve this nail art pattern.
Step 1: Apply a Base Coat
This step is often skipped but is super important. Applying a base coat on your nails will help the nail polish last much longer on your nails and prevent chipping. My favorite base coat for nails is OPI Chip Skip; it's a very light formula that provides a sticky base for the nail polish to cling to.
Step 2: Paint Your Nails With One Color
Paint your nails with one nail polish color. It doesn't matter if you use a black, blue or pink nail polish; just make sure you use a good nail polish brand. I really like nail polishes from Orly; the colors are very bright and last long on your nails.
Step 3: Apply Dots To Your Nails
Create small dots on your nails with your nail polish brush. Th e color you choose for your polka dots should be different from the color you used for your bottom coat. For example, if you painted your nails black, you could create white, yellow or pink polka dots with your nail polish brush. I recommend putting one dot in the center of your nail first. Then, place the rest of the dots around it. If you are having trouble using the nail brush to create your polka dots, I suggest using a nail pen; it will give you a more precise application.
Step 4: Apply a Top Coat
Don't forget to finish your nails with a top coat. It will seal your design and help the nail polish last much longer on your nails.
Don't get discouraged if the design doesn't turn out the way you want it to because you can always start over. Just keep practicing until you get your nails looking the way you want them to.
