One reason so many of us get into a beauty rut is our unwillingness to change. For instance, I constantly reach for my taupe eyeshadow because I know it makes my eyes pop and the color goes with just about anything. I'm a ponytail girl too. High, low or messy, I know a smooth ponytail looks great on me. (And it's a fuss-free hair solution!) However, if I want to earn some points for style, my predictable hair and eye styles aren't going to cut it. I like following the fashion runways for inspiration. This year, I've tapped into two feminine hair trends that I'm going to try.
Take the fashion plunge with me and try out these two feminine, flirty hair trends.
Retro bouffant: The bouffant is no stranger to the fashion world but this fall it's getting a second (or third) chance at the spotlight. Fashion house Oscar de la Renta walked out models wearing high-collared sweaters, jackets and blouses making a good updo an absolute must have this year. Hair had plenty of body and was puffed in a bob with a bouffant top. Oscar de la Renta's models wore their bouffant styles close to the forehead and held in place with a satin-covered headband. Break out the Bedazzler though. You'll need to dress up that headband with a large rhinestone jewel first. Position the embellishment in the center of the band for a true de la Renta look.
Bold hair accessories: Dolce and Gabanna and other prominent designers showed off unusual hair accessories like headband circlets reminiscent of medieval royalty or ornate hairpins from the ancient Orient. Rochas' models wore beaded barrettes that swept back shiny, wavy hair while Rodarte introduced cosmic hair decorations adorned with stars and tiny jewels. You don't need a ton of accessories, just a few to represent your personal style.
So are these pretty styles suitable for everyday wear? Yes, absolutely! You don't have to live in Paris to strut your stuff. Don't jack up your bouffant for a long work day but you could add a nice touch of tease at the crown of your hair to give a feminine lift to a long hair look. Look smart by tucking an unusual hair clip into your workday chignon or bun.
