According to Harper's Bazaar, the sleek ponytail is one of the most popular hair trends for this fall season. Many celebrities rock this hairstyle including Kim Kardashian, Beyonce and Heidi Klum. Very few hairstyles look as classy as a sleek ponytail. It is so simple to create and looks flattering for any occasion, whether it is a date with your significant other or a lunch outing with your coworkers. Here are the steps you can take to create a sleek ponytail.
Step 1: Wash your hair with a smoothing shampoo and conditioner to help make your hair as smooth and sleek as possible. Try using Matrix Sleek Smoothing Shampoo and Sleek Smoothing Conditioner; these products work great.
Step 2: Gently pat your hair dry with a towel until it is damp. Avoid rubbing your hair; doing so can create frizz.
Step2: Apply a straightening serum or cream to the ends of your hair to help promote sleekness and prevent frizz. I like to apply Redken Satinwear Ultimate Blow Dry Lotion to my hair when I want it to look smooth and straight.
Step 3: Blow dry your hair with an ionic blow-dryer and round brush to get it to look as straight as possible.
Step 4: Straighten your hair with a flat-iron if your strands are not completely pin straight yet. Just separate your hair into three sections and straighten each strand one by one. Be sure to apply a heat protecting product beforehand to avoid damaging your hair from the heat.
Step 5: Pull your hair back into a high, tight ponytail and secure it with an elastic hair band. Do not hesitate to add fun accessories to your ponytail like hairpins, bows or jeweled clips. These accessories can dress up your ponytail and make it look even more glamorous.
Step 6: Add a dime-sized amount of hair gel or serum to help seal in shine and eliminate frizz from your hair.
A sleek ponytail does not take much effort to create and can make your appearance look so elegant. Wearing a sleek ponytail will bring a lot of attention to your face, so be sure to wear makeup that is tasteful and flattering.
