Beauty Guru: My top 3 beauty products

I've heard that there are women who would sooner leave the house without drawers on than be seen without their makeup. I am not one of those. I honestly can tell you, if you catch me outside without my under britches, you can bet my house burnt down while I was in the shower. And that I had 3 things in my bathrobe pockets. The 3 things I would snatch up, no pun intended, would be my L'Oreal Sublime Sun, Mabelline Baby Lips and Estee Lauder Sumptuous Mascara.

The first thing I would grab would have to be L'Oreal Sublime Sun face lotion. I am not fair skinned, nor have I had a sunburn. But decades of overexposure and no protection have resulted in actinic cheilitis, commonly called "farmer's lip". For me and everyone going outside, sunscreen is a must. The problems with using a sunscreen is it feels greasy after you put it on, makeup, especially powder, tends to get gunky or separate from the sunscreen. Then I found L'Oreal Sublime at Target for $8.99. It has a SPF (sun protection factor) rating of 50. It goes on smoothly and does not feel greasy. Best of all you can apply your makeup on top of L'Oreal's sunscreen. Yes, even your powder makeup can be worn with this product.

My next pick would be my Mabelline Baby Lips in the Peach Kiss shade. It has a SPF rating of 20 and at $3.99 is more than a bargain. It is a steal. This lip balm is amazing. It glides on your lips, leaves even "farmer's lip" feeling silky smooth all day. I love the golden peach tint on my lips.

My third and final item is Estee Lauder's Sumptuous Mascara. I admit at $23.99 this mascara is what I consider expensive. But the adage, "You get what you pay for." applies when it comes to this mascara. You get more. Estee Lauder's Sumptuous gives you more length and volume without clumping or flaking in a few hours.

In this small town, if I were outside in my bathrobe, the house in embers, it would make the local papers. With these 3 beauty products in my pocket, I know I could make myself presentable.
