It's hard to believe, but 2012 is coming to an end. There were certainly a lot of different beauty trends presented at fashion shows this year, some good and some very bad. I pay close attention to beauty trends every year, so I definitely noticed which ones were great and which ones were downright horrifying. Here are, in my opinion, some of the best and worst beauty trends of 2012.
Best Beauty Trend #1: Bold Brows
Move over anorexic brows…bold brows definitely stole the show this year. I definitely think bold brows look more flattering on every woman because they bring out the eyes and other features on the face. If your eyebrows are on the thin or sparse side, the best way to make them look thicker and bolder is to go over them with an eyebrow pencil that is one shade lighter than your hair color.
Best Beauty Trend #2: Nontraditional Smokey Eyes
Traditional smokey eyes can eventually get boring, so a little color was added to them this year. Instead of using gray eye shadows to create a smokey eye look, bold eye shadows, like blue and green, were used to get the look. This look might not be suitable for a work environment, but it is definitely fun to wear on a night out with your girlfriends.
Worst Beauty Trend #1: Topknot Bun
I know some ladies will disagree with me, but I think the topknot bun is definitely one of the worst looks of 2012. I just don't think it looks flattering on anyone. A topknot bun just looks so big and obnoxious and should definitely go out of style. A low, sleek ponytail looks much more classy and flattering on women.
Worst Beauty Trend #2: Tinted Ends
Although the ombre tend was cool for a while, it went a little too far when celebrities started tinting their ends with bright blue, pink and purple hair dye. I just thought this hair trend looked a little ridiculous on anyone past the age of 16.
