Summer is not a easy beauty season. The heat, humidity, dry skin, the list goes on and on. It also easily leads to beauty embarrassments. Have a laugh while I share a few of mine.
1) Using the wrong moisturizer.
When I was 12, my skin was starting to become dry in summer. I didn't have any clue what moisturizer was at all. So I improvised before my gymnastics class one day. I used Noxzema to wash my face and it was soothing on my skin (hence, cold cream) so I rubbed it all over my face. Did the trick too, voila, no more dry skin! It was all find and dandy till we had a water break and I went to the restroom. I looked in the mirror to see a completely WHITE face. Turns out when you get hot and sweaty, Noxzema doesn't absorb. The cold cream had come back out of my pores. I don't know what was worse: the fact that I was walking around like a ghost or the fact that no one told me. I wiped it off and acted like it didn't happen. I mean 12 year old girls can be harsh. After that day, I swiped my mom's Oil of Olay moisturizer instead. In summer, use a light coverage, non-oily moisturizer. I love any "OLAY" moisturzier. They don't leave my skin feeling greasy.
BONUS: If it has SPF coverage.
2) Self Tanner/Bronzer Streaks
Who hasn't had a mess up of some kind with self tanner? My worst streaky case was right before my cousin's wedding out of town. I decided to get a spray on Mystic Tan and either didn't apply the lotion right or didn't apply it to some areas at all. I ended up with feet that looked like I ran in red dirt and didn't wash. I tried my hardest to wash it off with NO results. Only a few people noticed, like my girl cousins, but I was very self conscious of the snafu. Now, if i pay for a spray on tan, I prefer to use a Versa Spa spray tan. It goes on much more evenly and almost little to know streaking.
BONUS: you can choose the level of tan you want. (light, medium, dark)
3) Wet Rat Syndrome
I believe every girl has had this at one point in time. Definition: Getting out of a pool/lake/water feature and looking like a drowned rat. Black mascara/eyeliner tear-like stains pouring down the face and hair that flat, tangley, and gross. You name it has happened to me. My favorite water solutions are waterproof eyeliner, waterproof mascara, and beach wave spray. These products will help keep you cute in the water.
BONUS: Sunscreen is always sexy and waterproof. Use a higher SPF to keep your skin fantastic.
