Need a new lip look for the season? Try these fun ideas!
The ombre fade: You've seen it in fashion and hair--color flows from dark to light. Now it's what's happening in lips. Pick a dark and a light matte lipstick in the same color family, says New York City makeup artist Katey Denno. Fill in lips with the darker shade, then use a lip brush to trace lips' inner edge with the lighter one. Tap with your finger to soften the line and graduate to gorgeous!

A sultry stain: You want to look like you tried, but you don't always want to put in the labor. Prepare to be obsessed with the new lip-stain markers. They're way sexier than tinted balms but just as low-maintenance. Use the Sharpie-like tip to color in lips and the color stays all day, NYC makeup artist Katey Denno says. Time for more important things, like that second cup of coffee.

Punched-up pink: Pastels can get a little schoolgirlish, which is why we heart bold berry, pink's cooler cousin. It works for work and cocktails, especially if you choose a softer-looking creamy formula. To make color last, prime hydrated lips with a dab of foundation. Then pencil in entire lip with matching liner, dot lipstick over mouth, and blend spots with your finger, NYC makeup artist Katey Denno says.

Runway red: Designers (Ruffian, Julien David, Monique Lhuillier) sent citrusy red lips down the catwalk this season. Shop for a matte lipstick spiked with tangerine. Prep lips with balm--bold color makes flakes obvs--then apply color. (A lip brush is more precise.) Blot and massage in remaining lipstick with your finger, Los Angeles makeup artist Jeffrey Paul says. Gisele, be jealous!
