... moreI get this question a lot, so I turned to Brett Freedman, a makeup artist in Los Angeles. Before applying any other product, he suggests, prep lids with a primer (a good one: Benefit Lemon Aid Color Correcting Eyelid Primer, $20). You'll create a tacky surface for liner to adhere to. Then line your top and bottom lashes with a gel liner (purple's pretty for spring) rather than a soft, waxy pencil. Why? Think about it: Your body temp is 98 degrees, hot enough to soften wax and make a mess. Seal the deal by using a sponge-tip applicator to cover damp liner with a matching powder shadow. And that's how you stay in the liner!
Top a gel liner with Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash in Ultra Violet, $21, to stop smudging.
