If you like to change up your hair color each season or are looking for a permanent change, don't book that hair coloring treatment at the salon just yet. An at-home treatment can be equally as effective as a salon coloring treatment and may be even less damaging to your strands.

Use these tips to color your hair like a professional at home with L'Oreal Sublime Mousse:
Take a skin allergy test. Make sure you're not allergic to any of the ingredients in the product by performing a skin allergy test at least 48 hours before your apply the product. Check the instruction booklet for guidelines on how to perform this simple test.
Make sure hair is completely tangle free. Use a comb or brush to make sure your hair is free of tangles and knots. The hair coloring solution will go on more evenly and provide the perfect coverage you need.
Wear gloves. Put on the pair of gloves that comes with the hair coloring kit so that you don't end up staining your palms and nails. These gloves will also protect your skin from chemicals and compounds present in the hair coloring product.
Start at the top of your head and work down to the tip. When you're using the L'Oreal Sublime Mousse, pump about a tennis ball-size of mousse into the palm of your hand and apply it to the roots at the top of your head first. Gently spread the mousse to the edge of your hairline and then massage the mousse through your hair, working downward. Avoid rubbing the product into your scalp; focus on saturating your hair as thoroughly with the product as possible instead.
Give yourself a scalp massage. Massage your hair in a gentle, circular motion so that the mousse spreads throughout the hair evenly. Take your time with the massage session so that the hair near the nape of your neck and the back of your head is completely covered with the product. If you have very thick hair, this can take some extra time. Use as much mousse as you need to completely saturate your strands.
Leave the product in your hair for at least 30 minutes. You'll achieve a richer, more lustrous finish when you leave the product in your hair for at least half an hour. You don't have to pull hair up in a clip, but can keep massaging it to prevent dripping of the product and maintain an even application.
Rinse and condition your hair. Leave your gloves on and rinse your hair with warm water until the water runs clear. Apply a generous layer of conditioner included in your hair coloring kit, and leave in your hair for at least three minutes before rinsing with warm water.
Maintain shine with a weekly conditioning session. Use the same conditioner from Step 7 for up to six weeks after coloring. This will help you maintain lustrous, shiny, and lively hair, and give you that salon-quality look for weeks ahead!
