Extreme Overreaction: Teacher Burns Student's Scalp Trying to Remove Hair Extensions

In today's Major Overreaction News, a teacher in Scarborough, England allegedly burned a student's scalp in an attempt to remove purple hair extensions. Courtney Blades-Wilkinson, 13, claims her teacher dragged her and her friend out of class and used science lab equipment to melt the glue that attached the hair extensions to their heads. Ouch. Our scalps are burning just thinking about it.

The teacher's reaction seems pretty dramatic, not to mention possibly illegal. It's not like the girl brought a weapon to school. She just wore fake hair. Though Blades-Wilkinson did violate the private school's dress code, her mother says the school approved the colored extensions since there were only a few days left in the term. Even so, what we want to know is, why didn't the teacher just call the parents and have her taken out for the day? It seems like a simple solution to a pretty low-stakes problem.

"For a teacher to drag two children down to a science lab, sit them down, and try to melt glue from their heads is disgusting," said Courtney's mother, Susan, who is outraged. There's a lot of hearsay at this point, and so the school has launched an official investigation to see what exactly went down.
