Eyelash Dehydration: Yes, it Can Happen!

    By Kerri Winick, GalTime.com

Who knew eyelashes could get dehydrated? Who knew eyelashes could get dehydrated? Winter's killer combo of cold temps and indoor heat can cause some serious dry skin drama. And don't even get me started on the status of my hair! But did you know your lashes can also dry out in a blink? If you spot broken "shorter than normal" pieces, you could be dealing with dehydration.

Mother Nature is partly to blame, but American Academy of Dermatology spokesperson Dr. Debra Jaliman says other common culprits include waterproof mascara and sudsing your face with plain ole' bar soap.

The good news? Lashes typically grow back within four to eight weeks. All they need is a little TLC! Feast your eyes on these tips from Dr. Jaliman:

1.) Apply petroleum jelly to your lashes before you hit the hay.

2.) Lubricate lashes with a conditioner. Dr. Jaliman recommends Talika Eyelash Conditioning Cream ($30) and Talika Eyelash Lipocils ($40).

3.) Use a product formulated for removing eye-makeup, as opposed to a regular cleanser.

4.) If your lashes are still breaking, consider seeing a dermatologist. He or she may recommend a prescription lash product, like Latisse, which will help hair grow in longer, stronger and darker. Keep in mind that it takes up to 8 weeks to see a difference, and 16 weeks to see full results.
