The other day I popped by Saks Fifth Avenue to check out the newest Tom Ford beauty collection for spring-I'm obsessed with his super-edited ultra-modern-yet-somehow-still-classic color range and, well, you know how we feel about his fantastic nail polishes. One of Tom Ford's new launches for spring is a gold lip lacquer that the makeup artist at the countered demo-ed on me-without applying another color first! Gold lip gloss on naked lips? Indeed.

Much to my surprise, the gold Tom Ford lip gloss looked great-really warmed up my skin tone in this really subtle way, plus the sparkle is really pout-enhancing-even worn on its own, without a color underneath. So I started asking around and found that gold lip gloss is, like, a total thing this spring-tons of brands, in all different price ranges, have issued their own sparkling gold shine sticks this season. There's really something for everyone-the CoverGirl WetSlicks gloss is a pink-gold and a little frostier than the other ones; the L'Oreal LeGloss is a golden darker hue (it looks a little darker in the photo than it does in real life); The Body Shop's Honey Bronze is the most perfect honey-amber shade and, while it's sparkly, it's not as full-on big sparkle-sparkle as some of the other ones; the Urban Decay Stardust is the sparkliest and sheerest of all the ones I tried, and the Tom Ford Lip Lacquer is the purest, creamiest, marbled gold.
