It also helps when you remove their glasses, do better make-up, clothes, and lighten the hair. The whole package was changed, which needs to be taken into consideration. They all look great.

If that picture is any indication, you sweet, YOUNG thing you .. xx)) ,,

Wait until you are in your 60's. It's not fun. I've looked good in short hair for years. I'm thinking of going to Shaggy-town to Shag-it-up a little. Put a little more hair on my full-back neck.

Quoth th' Raven "Short hair, nae-fur-mairrrrrrrrrrrrre!!xx))""

My hair grows ridiculously fast, so keeping it short would mean a trip to the salon every month or two. That would get way too expensive. Instead, I grow it out and keep it styled, then every 18-24 months I go in and have it cut into a cute bob and donate the hair to Locks of Love. Many salons will cut your hair for free if you do that. I haven't had to pay for a haircut since I started doing that 6 years ago.

That's a good idea if you can grow long hair that looks good. I actually go to a barbershop that a female beautician owns with her barber father. I pay $7.50 for a haircut. I go every 5-6 weeks depending on how fast it is growning. My daughter goes about every 4 weeks because her hair growns so much faster. I have gotten better haircuts from this gal than I have ever gotten from any beauty shop or cheap haircut place. Both of us (my daughter and me) cannot do long hair. She has extremely thick curly hair that doesn't take well to length. My hair is thinning and looks better short.

Nothing but scissors? Please. Every one of those women has tinted or otherwise differently colored hair, different makeup, and different, more flattering clothes.

      • Mary 4 months ago
Im 62,and that is exactly whats going on with my hair!!!its thinned alot on top,and im starting to let the gray grow out,and have a long layered look but im really wanting to go short, even though i dont think i look that good in short, but,it would help with the grow out of the gray,we will see.Why do us women care so much about what everyone else thinks, and if we look our age??
      • VIM 4 months ago
I wonder about the thinning thing. If it is hereditary or Meds. we might have to take causing it?

The question is WHERE do you get a stylish hair cut without paying a months rent for it??? Usually they give everybody the same cut no matter where you go.

did any of y'all ever see the movie 'Steel Magnolia'?...if you hae, look at the beginning of that film, where all the ladies are in the salon, you have young and old there, all with differ. hairstyles, all of them have at least shoulder length hair....there is sooo much more you can do with hair, then to chop it to near your scalp and call that 'style'....and whether you want to face reality or not...men don't like women with boy hair cuts..even with the gel and pretty colors..lol

Here's what really annoys me -- why can't they make the women look good without cutting their long hair?! It's almost a given that when a woman has long, beautiful hair, they "improve" it by cutting it all off. Is that all they know? Can't they make it look better, or try, before chopping it off? I've struggled with stylists for years with this. They simply want to cut, instead of getting creative.

I am 54 with long hair!! i enjoy it longer, have had every length from short to waist length, I just really like it longer! I do not have super thick hair, layers help with fullness and of course makep and youthful clothing.
    • Beebs  •  4 months ago
Not only do women cut their hair short after 40 ( I have long hair and I def won't cut it just because I'm 40 ) But, I also noticed that guys cut their hair short as they age....like that ugly short barber hair. What's up with that?
Why can't we just wear our hair the way we like, not the way society thinks it should be?

I am 54 and most people think I'm 40. The secret to looking young is no sun and lots of sleep. Happiness is the best beautifier. Be happy with yourself. Your feelings show on your face.
    • Richard  •  Dayton, Ohio  •  4 months ago
This is Richard's wife, Nancy. I agree with all the posters wondering why they always cut the hair short to look "younger"? I think it makes them look older! My hair is naturally curly, and the best way to take advantage of that is to wear my hair long, and let it do its thing. I'm 44, and I have no intention of going short, ever! Only in America do they feel a need to pressure a woman to go shorter when she reaches her 40's. Ridiculous!
    • Laura S.  •  4 months ago
I recently donated 10 inches to Locks of Love. While I am glad I did it for a good cause.... I REALLY miss my hair! I feel a lot less feminine. I did make me look younger, almost too young. I am 30 and now I look 14! I never understood why women over 40 all seem to have the same haircut. Long hair is so much easier to just wash and wear!

I am 64 turned in November. I have hair past my waist. I keep it looking nice retouch it like every 3 wks. when I go anywhere people think I'm in my late forty's. What I'm trying to say is that long hair doesn't make you look old. If you like long wear it long. If you like short wear it short It's all how you feel the best. Maybe one of these days I'll try a shorter look but not because someone said to do it. Women are beautiful at any age . The Master made them that way. Beauty starts from the inside.
    • KM  •  Mukilteo, Washington  •  4 months ago
As a licensed cosomotologist i have to say.. the last two women DO NOT look younger... they look older. They didn't have to chop their hair to look better... they just needed makeup and new clothes... the woman with the REALLY long hair just needed layers and some side bangs and makeup and new clothes and she would've looked younger...now she looks in her 40's and a like a soccor mom....
    • JenniferD  •  Chicago, Illinois  •  4 months ago
and, what's with that stupid look of cutting the back of your hair shorter and letting it hang longer on the sides.......what is up with that......it must be trendy because I see it everywhere; however, it looks ridiculous
    • mountains  •  San Jose, California  •  4 months ago
This is such a bunch of crockola! In the "before" picture, her neck and face are full of WRINKLES. In the "after" picture, the wrinkles are poof...gone, as if by magic! Yes, the hair color and hair style help soften and modernize her look, but the BIG change is due to PHOTOSHOPPING and/or SURGERY!

You know what ages a woman? Someone who holds onto ashy highlights and tans, looks desperate!

Totally sick of the movement in this country to defeminize women by chopping off their hair. Ten years off, my rear.
    • Tams  •  Beaumont, Texas  •  4 months ago
They do all look great, but I HATE hair shorter in the back and longer on the sides. Looks like a clown.
