Emma Stone showed up at the Los Angeles premiere of The Amazing Spider-Man looking flawless, as usual. What impressed us most about her look was her eye makeup. While the cat eye look is sometimes a bit too heavy for us to even consider wearing in the daytime, her's was actually pretty subtle and elegant. Chanel celebrity makeup artist Rachel Goodwin gave us the steps for getting the same look at home.
Photo: Jason Merritt/GettyStep 1: Sweep a light colored cream eyeshadow across the lids, like Chanel Illusion D'ombre in Fantasme ($36, Chanel.com). This light color will nicely contrast the eyeliner, making it suitable for daytime wear.
Step 2: Use a liquid liner, like Revlon ColorStay Creme Gel Eye Liner in Black ($8.99, Revlon.com), to create your cat eye. Begin at the inside of the eyelid and drag the applicator all the way across the lid to the outside of the eye. When you get to the outside of the eye, move the applicator up and out to create a wing effect. Do not make this line any longer than an eyelash to keep it from being too dramatic.
Step 3: Sweep on a couple coats of black mascara, like Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara ($16, Clinique.com).
Step 4: Finish emphasizing your eyes by defining your brows. Take a sculpting eyebrow pencil, like Chanel Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil ($29, Chanel.com) in your natural color, and fill in sparse areas of your brows.
How do you feel about wearing a cat eye during the day?
