Chanel debuts shimmery nails. We can't wait to try!

We first spotted the nail art style pairing a solid shade with a metallic border at the Katie Gallagher show last fall. Now it looks like the style is picking up steam: models at Chanel's Fall 2012 couture show wore creamy pink nails with a contrasting silver lining. We're digging this dynamic duo and want to try it ourselves!

Chanel's creative director of makeup Peter Philips designed the look as a modern spin on the classic French manicure. First, backstage makeup artists painted the models' nails with two coats of May, a melon pink from Chanel's spring 2012 polish collection. Once the first shade was dry, they lined the nail edges-but not the tips-with a chrome shade from 2007 that's since been discontinued (fear not: if you want to recreate the look, Zoya's Trixie polish comes mighty close to approximating the Chanel polish). The results are subtle enough to wear both on and off the runways.
