Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner in Snow, $20Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner in Snow, $20Chances are your makeup bag has smoldering black eye liner, basic brown, or even sultry navy, but have you ever thought about adding bright white to your beauty repertoire?

Before you cringe or shout that I'm crazy, hear me out.

Using white eyeliner can be an eye opening experience - literally. Unlike black eyeliner, which can actually make your eyes appear smaller, white has a widening effect when used on the bottom rim.

Still, that doesn't mean you should be leery of lining your lids with the hue! Create a fresh look a la the models at Alice and Olivia's Fall 2012 runway show and create a cat eye using white pencil. Part pop art and part retro, celebrity makeup artist Brandy Gomez-Duplessis says it looks best when paired with "naked" eyes and cheeks and sheer, lightly glossed, nude lips…no lip liner required! If shadow is a must ,try a matte brown on the lid, with a deeper brown in the crease.

Looking for something a bit more dramatic? If you're like us, then you can't get enough of wine-stained lips. (Deep red, burgundy, you get the picture!) Gomez-Duplessis says the easiest way to achieve this vampy look is to layer two different types of lip color: a deep red stain, followed by a richly pigmented lipstick.

What's that, you say? You don't know how to create glossy lids? Gomez-Duplessis says it's a snap and its stylish! Using your finger, pat a small amount of eye makeup primer on your lids. Next, grab your favorite cream gel liner. (Black will create a downtown grunge look, while a brighter color will channel the 70s.) With a flat, stiff brush, pat the liner on top of the primer. Cover the entire lid, stopping at the crease. Then, pat a clear, unscented lip gloss on the lid. Skip gloss on the bottom of the eye, finish things off with your favorite mascara.
