A Simple Tip to Cover Up Acne

It's inevitable: You're going to a party and a zit as big as a grape pops up on your chin. Oh, an ex you haven't seen in five years will be there? Naturally.

Don't pick at your blemishWe've got you covered. Makeup artist Merrell Smith of Space NK spills her simple technique for concealing blemishes. And when you're done obsessing over these tips, check out her video on DailyCandy of how to get rid of pesky dark areas around the eyes.

Smith says the most common mistake when trying to fix up a blemish is picking at it and using the wrong tools, like your fingers, or a concealer brush that's too big.

Use a small brushHer number one tip: use a small synthetic brush and a concealer that's not too creamy or greasy.

When applying, use a tiny amount of product and put it onto the blemish itself with a small brush. Do it in a patting motion and lightly feather out the remaining product, that way you won't get too much product on the surrounding area, which would only highlight the problem!
