Q: So basically, my T-zone could solve the oil crisis. But oil-control products dry out the rest of my face. Is there anything to mitigate the oil but keep everywhere else moisturized? -Karen

A: Dear Karen,
The nice thing about the T-zone is you know where it is and where it isn't. So: Moisturize as heavily as you like, with creams or even oils, everywhere your T-zone isn't. (I am not such a fan of oil controllers, but many might find my skin on the over-shiny side.) If the oil-control items work for you, use them only where needed. I realize this dual-product thing takes a minute, but so does ... doing your makeup! If taking an extra moment is going to fix your problem, it's worth it.

Either way, the ultimate shine-eradicator is not a salve, or a serum, or even a powder: It is a piece of paper. I'm partial to the MAC ones that are sort of blue paper-plastic sheets. Blot oily spots with them, and they miraculously absorb it without disturbing your makeup. Bonus tip: Paper is paper, so if you run out, Kleenex or or even toilet paper makes a fine substitute.
