Step-By-Step Guide to Perfect Smoky Eyes

Love her or hate her, the girl rocks a mean smoky eye. Snag these tips to get your own uber sexy eye Kim K. would be proud of.

    Do Your Prep Work

Before you even start with your smoky eye, you need to make sure your skin is prepped to hold all that color. I apply a light moisturizer like Clean & Clear Oil-Free Dual Action Moisturizer ($5.99, drugstore.com) all over my face and then put Almay Smart Shade SPF 20 Anti-Aging Concealer ($8.99, drugstore.com) under my eyes to keep them bright and perky.

    Dust Below Your Brow Bone

Using the lighter shade in my Makeup For Ever Rock For Ever Eye Shadow Palette, I dust the gray shadow just below the brow bone, all over my lid. Be sure not to apply all the way to your brows, because then the look gets a little more costume and less Kardashian.

    Follow with the Dark

Next, I dust the dark, black shade over the lid area only, making sure to reach from right before the corner of my eye to the opposite end. Blend upward and out using a brush or your fingers and to extend the color.

    Highlight the Corners

Kim's signature smoky eye is known for that pop of brightness she gets in the corner of her eyes. Mimic this by using a shimmery white shade and an angled brush. Highlight the inside corners of your eyes by applying the shadow in a sideways V shape.

    Line Your Lids

Finish the look by lining both the top and bottom of your lids with heavy duty liner, like MAC Greasepaint Stick. Using a smudge brush, smudge the liner into the shadow get a dramatic, sultry look. Top it off by curling your lashes and applying heavy volume mascara like L'Oreal Voluminous Waterproof Volume Building Mascara in Black for extra kick. Watch out Kim, there's a new smoky eye in town!
