What's the One Beauty Product You Hate Using?

Fridays are usually slow and tortuous, but last week was especially rough. I was counting down the minutes 'till my flight to Las Vegas, where seven of my closest girlfriends and I were meeting for a much-needed girls' trip. I couldn't wait.

But … I had to, because my flight was delayed.

By the time I got to our suite, I had 30 minutes to get ready for our night out. And by that point the bathroom was a minefield of spray tanners, falsies, and steaming hot curling irons. With just minutes left before our dinner reservation, I of course managed to pinch my eyelid in my rush to curl my lashes. My eyes immediately watered, making my just-done liner run.

"I hate curling my lashes!" I yelled in pain.

My eyelash curler is the one makeup tool I don't have patience for. I almost always get too close to my lashline and pinch myself, or start too far out and get the dreaded L-shaped crimp. My girlfriends sympathized, and shared their tips on how to curl straight lashes like a pro. We then started ranting about all of our least favorite things about makeup, and it was quite cathartic.

Do you also think your eyelash curler is a medieval torturing device, or do you have a daily battle with your liquid eyeliner? Here are a few of our biggest makeup complaints:

Aliza K.: I LOATHE putting on self-tanner. Without fail, I get streaks everywhere, and it always looks so weird -- what am I doing wrong?!

Kerry L.: Liquid foundation always looks fake on me and I can't seem to get lip stain down either.

Patricia S.: Ugh ... Eyelash curlers are the devil! Every time I use mine, I always have to blink and it feels like the curler is about to rip my eyelashes out.

Brandy Q.: The eyelash curler and I do not get along. It pinches me so I throw it across the room.

Nicole S.: I cannot figure out false lashes. I couldn't get them on if my life depended on it.

Anything but powder foundation. I can't seem to keep it from looking cakey.

Putting on spot correcting make up, to cover my acne. I can never get it right and it always looks like I'm trying to cover it up. It's supposed to look like nothings there, but I just can never get it right.

i REFUSE to use an eyelash curler! lol it looks like some sort of medieval device =/ luckily i like the way my lashes look when i wear mascara, so i doubt i'll ever use one.

Foundation of any kind. I will still use it occasionally but I skip it now more than not b/c it makes my skin itchy and I always feel like my skin feels dirty with it on.

Why on earth would you use the products that you hate? Makes absolutely no sense!

  You're right but I suppose b/c women feel they need to use them aka eyelash curlers, tweezers, foundation, and self-tanner, ect. I try to skip the ones I don't like, but like with foundation, I will try it from time to time, maybe I think I will feel differently, but usually I have the same results. Mostly, I don't use it.

Eyebrow tweezers. I have a handy little trim tool on my razor, but it only goes so far; I have a love-hate relationship with my tweezers.

Liquid foundation...which is why I never use it. I don't wear much makeup(usually, just a dusting of blush and eyeshadow.) and never tan, fake or otherwise. I love myself as I am, and only occasionally use makeup to enhance what I already have.

curling mascara.. or mascara in general. i hate the stuff. my lashes are long and curly just not thick and curling mascara makes my lashes curl back on themselves eww. but i have to wear mascara because i look crazy without it

I really hate self tanner. I use L'oreal Sublime Glow, it doesn't smell as bad as the rest to me (although still not great!) and it's a subtle shimmery color. I only use it on my legs, really only in the summertime. Because even though I find that one better than most on the market, I still really can't stand the feel of it and smell and I always end up streaky. I usually apply it at night so that I can shower off any odor in the morning, and I can also go and exfoliate away any streakiness that may have occurred while it dried. Then I change my bed sheets because I don't want to sleep in the smell again the next night!
The whole process is more than I really feel like dealing with. I do it occasionally though when I am dressing up and I want my legs to look nice in the dress. But I'd rather do without it and just be my pale self.
